Stamp Club History Forward This book would not be of significance if it weren't for the many members in the last 30 years who have played their parts, big and little, to provide JPL Stamp Club covers for members, the JPL employees at large, and the space philatelic community. Especial recognition is due the stalwart production core group, who time after time have done the things it takes to get the covers out. Some specific members - past and present - should be noted: Don Burcham, who for many years designed, printed, carried and worried each event to conclusion, and kept the books, Helen and Ben Benedict, Sam Boyer, Haig Wilson, Ann Griesel, Harold Geise, and Juergen Linke, who are always there to take 500 or 1000 covers home to stick on the stamps and stuff in the inserts;
Peter Glover for his steady support of all club activity, service in one or another of the club offices, staunch support of Open House, and any other venue we have open to us to provide our covers to the public Jim Stoker who would pick up loose ends, get the stamps, and whatever was necessary (including producing the Galileo "generic" cover), and kept the books after Don, John Eyraud who has been there to support every important club activity, and also has been a mainstay at the Open House club booth. Ray Newburn and Bob Covey who in addition to presiding over the Club affairs will staff the sales booth at JPL events for hours and fill the mail orders to keep the collectors up to date, and
Helen Holloway, who was the elder stateperson, and chief cheerleader to make the efforts seem worthwhile.
To
these and the many others who enthusiastically pitch in where needed,
this history is dedicated. |
